For GPs and referring professionals
GP referrals to a clinical psychologist online
Refer or enquire about adult telehealth clinical psychology with Hassan Bashiri at Fern Up Psychology. This page helps general practitioners, psychiatrists, other clinicians and community referrers check the service fit and plan the next step.
Adult psychology referral enquiries across Australia
Fern Up welcomes referral enquiries for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, relationship difficulties, migration stress and significant life transitions. Appointments are delivered by telehealth where clinically appropriate; capacity and suitability are confirmed before treatment begins.
Sessions are available in English, Persian (Farsi) and Turkish. Australian-born adults and migrants from all backgrounds may enquire. Discuss communication needs rather than assuming a preferred language from a patient’s nationality.
Mental Health Treatment Plan and Better Access referrals
For eligible Medicare-funded care, Services Australia sets out the applicable referral pathways, including a GP or prescribed medical practitioner managing an eligible Mental Health Treatment Plan, and relevant psychiatrist or paediatrician pathways. Check current requirements, referral validity and the patient’s remaining eligible sessions. A new referral does not reset the annual Medicare limit.
Services Australia accepts a signed and dated referral letter; there is no mandatory standard form. Include patient name, date of birth and address, symptoms or diagnosis, current medicines, number of referred services, and the applicable plan statement. Refer to the official guidance for the full requirements.
Contact the practice before transferring clinical documents
Call 0414 036 269 to confirm current capacity, service fit and an appropriate method for transferring the referral. General administrative enquiries can be made through the contact details on this website. Confirm the receiving details and any required consent before transmitting clinical documents.
Please do not include patient histories, Medicare details or other sensitive information in article comments or public messages. This page is information for referrers; it is not a clinical-document upload portal. A discussion with the practice is needed to arrange the next step.
Assessment, communication and funding checks
Provide relevant clinical questions, current risks, existing services and communication needs through the agreed channel. Referrals for urgent assessment or immediate safety concerns require an appropriate urgent-care pathway; Fern Up is not an emergency or crisis-response service.
For Better Access, written reports to the referring medical practitioner are required after each course of treatment and address assessment, treatment and future-management recommendations. Discuss consent, confidentiality limits and coordination needs at intake.
Private clients can generally enquire without a GP referral. NDIS, WorkCover and victim-assistance enquiries require their own funding and service checks. A referral does not guarantee acceptance, a particular appointment date, insurer approval or bulk billing.
Frequently asked questions
Can a GP refer a patient for online clinical psychology?
Yes, referral enquiries can be discussed with Fern Up. Adult telehealth suitability, current capacity and any Medicare requirements are confirmed before treatment begins.
Is a Mental Health Treatment Plan the same as a referral?
A plan and referral have different roles. For Better Access, check that the required valid referral and eligibility conditions are met; the plan alone should not be assumed to replace the referral.
Can all referrers authorise Medicare-funded treatment?
No. Medicare referral pathways are limited to eligible medical practitioners under the applicable rules. Other clinicians and community services may discuss a service enquiry or suggest a private appointment; this does not establish Medicare eligibility.
Does every referred patient receive bulk-billed appointments?
No. Patient eligibility, referral validity, remaining eligible sessions and practice availability need to be checked. Confirm fees and arrangements before an appointment.
